Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy
What is Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)?
BCST is a form of light touch bodywork that is especially effective for balancing the nervous system. The gentleness and spaciousness that biodynamic work offers can be a powerful support in healing from expressions of trauma, stress and dis-ease in the body. Each of us is uniquely imprinted with the joys, the struggles, and the grittiness of being human. BCST has a unique way of holding space for our body’s memory of experiences that we may not have words to describe, or may not even cognitively understand.
Relational touch
The therapy is grounded in a deep trust in the way that bodies respond to touch itself. In a craniosacral therapy session the practitioner is bringing an embodied, neutral presence to their touch. Listening to the rhythms and expressions of a persons body, the organs, bones, tissues, nervous system — seeing, hearing and accepting the physical archive of the clients experience. The practitioner holds trust in the bodies ability to orient itself towards health, vitality, and homeostasis. Many of us adults have not been touched in such a gentle and attuned way since we were babies, and for many more of us this kind of touch will be entirely new. Often this type of therapy facilitates deep and lasting change as it gives acknowledgement to those experiences held in our tissues that we may not be able to verbalise or logically understand.
